Separating light from darkness ~ pt 1 in Transcript of podcast by Christine Beadsworth

Hi everyone. Last time I spoke about what colour light is coming from your house and the issue of the Supreme Court in America passing homosexual marriage and I want to continue on the theme of light and darkness.

We read in Hebrews 4:12 that “the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thaughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do”. So we see that the Word of God acts as a sword, bringing division. Jesus Himself, who was the Word made flesh, said He didn’t come to bring peace, but a sword and that in one house there would be 3 against 2 and 2 against 3 and I really believe that we’re living in a time when the Word of God is dividing and separating.

In Genesis 1:3 we read: “And God said ‘Let there be light’ and there was light and God saw that the light was good and He approved it and He separated the light from the darkness”. At this time in world history, God is separating light from darkness. He is bringing a division between the sons of the light and the sons of darkness and it is the Word of God that is the sword that is being used to bring the division. When it is written in the Word and laws are passed that go directly contrary to what is written in the Word, then we know that the sword is being used to bring a division and to separate.

When God separated light from darkness, before it was separated, God had spoken and said: “Let there be light” and the light manifested. So, a sound produced light and God saw that the light was good and He approved it. So God declares that the light is something that is good, that it is something of His nature, because God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all and He separates light from darkness. Before that, the Holy Spirit was brooding over the darkness on the face of the deep, then God actually brings a division between the light and the darkness and He gives them names. He calls the light “Day” and the darkness He calls “Night” and there was evening and there was morning, one day. Now what is really important to note here, is that when He has separated the light from the darkness and called them names that are applicable to them, the first thing that comes is evening and then morning. Now, if we had been in charge of that operation, we would have made the daytime come first, because that was the nice part, but at this time when God is busy separating light from darkness, the minute that process is finished and the labelling of the two camps of light and darkness has taken place, then darkness begins and there are 3 night watches before the morning watch of the first day. So 3½ watches of the night happen before the light begins to be seen and to drive back the darkness. In some way, I think this is a parallel to 3 ½ years of Tribulation and the 3½ years when the woman was fed and kept safe in the Wilderness in Revelation 12 and the Dragon is making war with the rest of God’s children who are not being sheltered and kept safe.

There was a very interesting parallel to this description in Revelation 12 that happened in AD 66. The Shekinah Glory left the Temple and hovered over the Mt of Olives during the siege of Jerusalem, which took place halfway through 66 AD to AD 70 and historians recorded this. The Shekinah Glory actually left the Temple in stages, but it remained in Jerusalem and it was described by a Jewish Rabbi called Jonathan, who was an eye-witness to the destruction of Jerusalem and he said the Shekinah Glory dwelt on the Mount of Olives hoping that Israel would repent, but they did not and a voice from Heaven issued forth, announcing: “Return, oh backsliding children, return to Me and I will return to you” and when they did not repent, it said: “I will return to My place”, which is a quote of Hosea 5:15.
Josephus also mentions that in the Spring of 66AD, some astonishing events took place within the Temple. At 3 o’clock in the morning a light, a great light shone over the Altar for 30 minutes. Three o’clock in the morning is the beginning of the morning watch and then it departed and disappeared. It was depicting the Shekinah Glory moving away from the Tabernacle. Josephus goes on to say that there were 2 other signs during Passover in that year 66AD and then about 50 days later on Pentecost, a final sign was given which showed that the Shekinah Glory departed the Temple. The Priests in the inner court of the Temple, during Pentecost, heard voices and a commotion and a roar of many chariots and the voices were saying: “We are departing from here” and the Shekinah Glory went to the Mount of Olives and remained there for 3½ years.
Now this is really significant, because it’s a foreshadowing of what’s going to be happening in these days - in the 3½ years when the woman flees into the Wilderness and is protected and kept safe. It’s the Glory of God that fed the Israelites in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire and the manna that fell daily, is what fed the Israelites when they came out of Egypt and the Mount of Olives is the place where the red heifer was slaughtered, where people could go and wash if they were unclean and there was a voice coming from there saying: “Repent and return to Me”. God is calling His Church to repentance. He doesn’t want ányone to perish, but all to come to repentance, but the Shekinah Glory was over the Mount of Olives calling for this - and olives are what we get light from, but it comes from crushings. The olive tree is shaken and God is going to shake everything that can be shaken till what cannot be shaken remains. After the shaking of the tree, the olives are then pressed and oil and anointing comes from them.
During the Israelite’s time in the wilderness, God put a separation between Egypt and His people, namely the Red Sea. It was God who burned their bridges behind them and they were not able to return to Egypt even if they wanted to and in the same way God is orchestrating things in the earth, so that His children will not be able to return to Egypt and the world system. For those who cross over in these days... we’re all in a time of transition, there’s no going back. We are going to have total dependence on the provision of God for everything and we can look at the plagues in Egypt as being birth pangs thrusting God’s people out of Egypt, out of the world system and into holiness. God will have a holy Bride. God wíll have a holy people and if they won’t come out willingly and if that spirit of Pharaoh will not release God’s people willingly, God will bring plague after plague upon the world system, until God’s people are completely thrust out and separate, because God is separating light from darkness in these days.

The word used in Genesis 1 where it says: “He separated the light from the darkness”, that word for ‘divide’ in Hebrew means ‘to make a distinction between’. We see even now with the Supreme Court ruling in America recently, that there already is coming a distinction between the sons of light and the sons of darkness. There are Christians making a stand, resigning from their jobs, because they will not be a part of the Supreme Court ruling. The distinction is already being made, but what I want to say to you is that the separation of light from darkness is a process. It’s not an instant miracle. These are the days we’re living in.
God says in His Word: “What fellowship can light have with darkness and what can a Believer have with an unbeliever and what fellowship can we have with idols? Come out from among her and be separate,” and there are things that God is allowing to happen in the world system and in society in which we live, which are propelling us, those of us who really want to follow the Lord, out of the world system; propelling us out of the state of mixture with the world; propelling us out of the yoke of the slave masters of Egypt. The Supreme Court ruling is just one of those things that God is using as His Word is standing as a two-edged sword and separating light from darkness and the soul from the spirit, that which is soulish, from that which is spirit. Of course we still have some Churches that are condoning this kind of thing and they are, by their very action, declaring themselves to not be sons of the light and sons of the day.

That word ‘light’ in Genesis 1:3 where God says, “Let there be light”, means ‘to make luminous, glorious’ or ‘to set on fire’. A sound coming from God’s mouth produces light. It sets on fire. In these days, sound coming from God’s mouth, will again set on fire those who are surrendered with their lives on the altar of sacrifice, those whose lives are a living sacrifice. Through their lives of worship and living sacrifice, people’s hearts will again be opened to see who is the real God. Do you remember when Elijah was confronting the prophets of Baal? Jezebel had killed most of the true prophets and the people had just been listening to the prophets of Baal day and night, day and night. They were eating at Jezebel’s table and I think the people of Israel were so bewitched, that they didn’t even realise that what the prophets of Baal were saying was actually not the Word of God. Then Elijah came and he confronted them and there was a showdown. He said to the people of God: “How long will you halt between 2 opinions? If the Lord is God, then serve Him!” and the people just stared at him. They were so stupefied and lulled into a slumber by the words of the prophets of Baal, that they couldn’t even respond to that, but we’re again in a day when God is saying through the spirit of Elijah, “How long will you halt between 2 opinions people of God? If the Lord is God, serve Him, conform yourself and your lives and your beliefs fúlly to the Word of God in this day. Don’t be living lives of compromise when you are sons of the light and sons of the day”.
So what happened is, the prophets of Baal did their thing, trying to make fire come from heaven on their sacrifice and of course, nothing happened, but then it says that after midday, after 12 o’clock, the spirit of Elijah, through Elijah, said to the people, “Come near to me,” and, Beloved, it’s time for the people of God to draw near to the spirit of Elijah, because just as John the Baptist preaching a baptism of repentance formed a transition bridge between the time of religion and the time of Christ, so the spirit of Elijah is going to be releasing teaching and truth that will help the people to transition out from under the prophets of Baal - to recognize and have their eyes opened again to see that the Lord is the only true God.

So he says to the people, “Come near to me,” and then he pours water on the living sacrifice. He pours water on that sacrificial altar, 12 jars of water. Twelve is the number of Apostolic rule and reigning and then on top of that 12, there was water in the trenches around and the trenches were big enough to hold 2 measures of seed. So we see that there’s a double portion of seed that is also going to be drenched with the water of the Word in these days. And then Elijah calls upon God and says, “Lord, let it be seen that everything I’ve done is at Your command,” and the fire falls from heaven and consumes the sacrifice and licks up all the water. Do you remember when Jesus said at the cross, “It is finished”? He also did it at the time of the evening sacrifice. He said “kalah”, (complete, the sacrifice is complete). Also at the time of the evening sacrifice, Elijah called upon God and the sacrifice was set on fire and I really believe that the time of the evening sacrifice is the last watch of the day when the evening is coming and the darkness is approaching and it is at that time that the fire of the Spirit of the Living God will once again fall on those whose lives are a living sacrifice, conformed and surrendered to the Lord and they will go forth in the spirit of Elijah.
So, let’s go back to Genesis 1:3 and see what the word ‘darkness’ in Hebrew means, because God called the light ‘good’. He didn’t have anything to say about the darkness, except He called it what it was, “night”. So the word darkness in Hebrew is “choshech” and it means ‘misery, destruction, death, sorrow and wickedness’. So God separates light from darkness. He’s separating the sons of light from the sons of wickedness. Separating the sons of light from misery, destruction, death and wickedness and He calls that darkness “night”, The word for night in Hebrew means ‘a twist away from the light’ and ‘adversity’. So those who deliberately turn away from the light, who twist away from the light of truth, are of the darkness. Those who say that homosexual marriage is good, those who call evil good, are of the darkness. By their fruits you will know them. By the fruit of their lips, you will know them and by the fruit of their lives.

In these days there’s going to be a great falling away, because this unclean thing that has been passed in the United States at this time (it is already legal in many other countries: in Canada, in South Africa, in most of Europe). This becomes an issue that starts the separation between light and darkness. There is so much media pressure and there is so much manipulation and twisting and calling what is evil, good, and what is good, evil, that many people who do not know the word of God and who do not study to show themselves approved, rightly dividing the Word of God, have come to believe, or be seduced to believe, that evil is good. They don’t realise that they’re setting themselves in opposition to the Word of God and the God of the Word and the truth of the Word. Calling what is evil, good, begins a transition away from light, even for Believers, to join with the sons of darkness and the sons of the night. Jesus said, “Those who seek to save their lives shall lose them”. Those who are seeking to be politically correct and socially correct are doing these things in the name of love, but love does not speak a lie. Love speaks the truth. So those who are aligning themselves with this whole media pressure and this whole social swing to call what is evil, good, are, by definition, making a transition away from the Kingdom of Light to become sons of the darkness. This is part of the great falling away that the Word speaks of and it’s amazing how it’s the twisting of the Word, that is used to trigger this great falling away.

God was separating light from darkness, by sealing Noah in the ark and bringing judgement upon the sons of darkness. God was separating light from darkness when He sent His messengers to complete the thrusting out of Lot from Sodom and then judgement fell on Sodom - and the dividing line that was used to separate light from darkness was righteousness. Are you a preacher and a speaker of righteousness? Is righteousness released from your mouth or darkness? What does the spring of your heart release? Is the sound coming from your mouth producing light? We’re living in the days of the separation of the tares from the wheat. The tares got put into bundles and we know birds of a feather flock together. There are those of whom have been thought of as part of the wheat, part of the Church, but in these days, the days of the Harvest, it’s becoming possible to discern the difference between the tares and the wheat and God’s angels bind the tares into bundles. The tares are those who deliberately turn away from the light of the true Christ and embrace another gospel, leading those who continue to follow them into the one world religion and destruction.

So, we are seeing in these days a great separation. It’s very disturbing for true Believers to see leaders that they have respected and looked up to and fed from for many, many years, standing up and displaying the DNA from which they really come. When you have a Church Leader stand up and call what is evil good and embrace it and have pictures taken in public, embracing what is evil and calling it good and something to be welcomed, then that leader is by the fruit of his actions and the fruit of his mouth declaring what DNA he is of and he is not wheat, he is a tare. And it’s very disturbing for Believers, in these days, to discover that they have been fellowshipping with, or sitting under the teaching of somebody masquerading as a teacher of righteousness, but whom, in actual fact, in his heart, has embraced doctrines of demons and calls what is evil good. It’s only in the harvest season, that which we’re in now, that we can identify the tares and the wheat, because God is making clear and exposing the secret motives and purposes of the heart in these day.
We have to decide whether we’re going to be those who fear God or fear man, because if we want to save our lives, we wíll lose them, but if we lose our lives for the sake of the Gospel, we will be blessed eternally. So we need to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. There’s only one Lord and one Saviour, Jesus Christ, and there’s no other name under Heaven by which men might be saved. So it’s time for true Believers to go back to the Word of God, to wash themselves in the water of the Word and if God says it, that settles it! Believe it! Don’t debate on it! There’s no debate! If God has declared something with a full stop at the end of a sentence, there’s no debating that sentence. God called the light good and He separated the light from the darkness and the darkness He called “night”, a ‘twist away from the light’. We’re going into a time where darkness is going to be seem to be reigning. There’s evening and then there’s morning. That’s what God’s day consists of and the day of the Lord starts with darkness. The day of the Lord starts with 3 watches of the night before the morning watch and those of us who are of the light and are of the day, have to shine like stars as we hold out the Word of Light, while surrounded by darkness. Do you remember in Isaiah 60, it says: “Arise and shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you and that there will be dense darkness upon the peoples, but His glory will be seen on you”? It’s time for us as true Believers to shine like stars.

In Genesis 1, where God said: “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night”, God set the stars in the expanse of the heavens to “give light upon the earth”, it says in Genesis 1:17, “to rule over the day and over the night and to separate the light from the darkness”. So the stars in the heavens, depict the sons of Abraham, by faith, when we are displayed against a dark background, when there’s dense darkness on the peoples. There should be great light coming from us to give light upon the earth, to give instruction, to give hope, to give direction. Do you remember in Daniel it says: “And those who are wise shall shine like the stars and lead many to righteousness”. We are the sons of the Light and the sons of the Day and we are shown to be that by the fact that when gross darkness begins to permeate the whole earth, our lives should be shining brighter and brighter. You know the stars are still there in the sky when it’s daytime, but we just can’t see them, because the light of the sun is so bright, but the minute the light of the sun is removed by the revolving of the earth, the stars appear. So, we have to shine like stars, Beloved. We are sons of the Light and sons of the Day and the Cross is the dividing line.

You know in Romans 12, Paul says: “I appeal to you Brethren, by the mercies of God to make a decisive dedication of your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and well pleasing to God”. Holy means ‘consecrated’ and ‘set-apart’. Do not be conformed to this world - in the Amplified Bible, it says: “fashioned after and adapted to its superficial customs”. And that word ‘conformed’ means ‘to fashion alike’ and it comes from the root word which means ‘union’. Now we either are in union with the world and the spirit of this age or we’re in union with the Lamb. The Bride must have oneness with the Lamb, not oneness and union with the world and its values and its behaviour. David said: “One thing have I desired of the Lord”. You remember I said to you that word ‘thing’ is not there in the Hebrew? It’s just: “Oneness have I desired of the Lord. That will I seek after”. So Church of God, we mustn’t seek after union with the world in these days. What fellowship can light have with darkness? What can a Believer have in common with an unbeliever? We must seek after oneness with the Lord.
Do you remember I spoke to you last time about how in the Old Testament in Jeremiah and Isaiah, God calls to His people and says: “Come out of the midst of her. Come out of the midst of her. Cleanse yourselves and be clean, you who bear the vessels of the Lord” and in Revelation 18:4, once again there’s a voice from Heaven saying to God’s people: “Come out of her My people, so that you may not share in her sins, neither participate in her plagues”. So we see from these verses in Revelation 18, that there’s a call, just like there was to the Israelites of old to come out of Babylon, there’s a call for the people of God in this day to come out, in order that we may not share in her sins, because if you condone other people’s sins, you are a sharer in those sins and the coming out is also in order to not participate in her plagues. So we see that there’s judgement coming and God’s calling His people to come out, in order to spare those that belong to Him from the plagues that are coming upon Egypt and the world system.

Let’s go back to Egypt and look at the Israelites in slavery, building for a world system. The plagues that came upon Egypt were almost like the birth pangs thrusting God’s people out of the womb of the world system and separating the sons of light and the sons of darkness. The plagues were a process, step by step, and God hardened Pharaoh’s heart in order to display His glory. So when you see the hardening of the hearts of world leaders in issues like abortion or non-traditional marriage or the things that are being passed, it is God who is hardening their hearts in order to bring a separation between His people and the people who are not believers - in order to bring a separation between the sons of light and the sons of darkness and to make plain who’s who in the zoo. Are you a son of light or are you a son of darkness? We can’t see other people’s hearts. We hear words come out of people’s mouths. I mean, we heard a world leader singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at a funeral, within days of displaying rainbow colours upon his dwelling place. So, you can’t always tell what’s in the heart, except when the plagues come and then its God drawing a dividing line.
So let’s look at the plagues that came to Egypt. Let’s go through them and see. The first 3 plagues, the plague of Blood in the Water, the plague of the Frogs and the plague of the Lice, were the only 3 plagues that affected everybody in Egypt, even the people of God. When there was water in the rivers and in the streams and the pools and the ponds, that was the water everybody drank from. So, even the slaves in Egypt were subjected to blood in the water. It was only at a certain point in the progression of the plagues that God braught a separation between His people and the people of Egypt. So, the first 3 plagues God used to begín to differentiate and separate the people of light and the people of darkness. I want to go into depth with these plagues just to show you what the Holy Spirit has shown me about the things that are coming. In Exodus 7:19 the Lord said to Moses: “Say to Aaron ‘take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, rivers, pools and ponds, that they may become blood and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt in containers both of wood and of stone’”. Now we read in Revelation 12, that there was a flood that came out of the mouth of the dragon and James also speaks of waters running out of the mouth, coming from a spring of bitter or sweet water. So, we see that waters can be likened to what is spoken, what is heard. Here in Egypt, God declares that the waters of Egypt become blood. We need to look at that word ‘blood’. What is God depicting for these days?

The word blood in Hebrew is ‘dam’ and it means ‘bloodshed, the juice of a grape, that which causes death (figuratively)’ and it comes from a root word meaning ‘to be dumb, to stop, to perish, to cut down or cut off or to put to silence’. So the picture of blood in the waters of Egypt is speaking of that which causes death being released into the waters of Egypt. We know very well that the flood that came from the dragon’s mouth was in order to destroy, but the blood that came into the waters of Egypt, whether it was running water or sitting water, caused the Egyptians to begin to dig for fresh springs and you can be sure that the slaves, the Israelites in slavery, were doing the same thing, because there was no other source of clean water other than a spring. The water that flowed from the Nile river in Egypt was contaminated and unclean and couldn’t be drunk and in these days, the water that is flowing from the world media, from the entertainment systems, from the television and very often from the radio in music, has become unclean and can’t be consumed. It will not quench our thirst and it’s necessary to dig for fresh springs.

Now a very interesting thing happened in Jerusalem a little while ago. A couple in Ein Kerem, which is the place where John the Baptist was born, discovered under the floor of their living room floor that there was a Mikvah. A Mikvah is a ritual bath, a stone bath, which the Jews use to cleanse themselves for religious purposes. In other words, it was connected with spiritual cleansing. This couple were doing some renovation on their house. They bought this house and they wanted to renovate and, like most houses in the Jerusalem area, layer upon layer has been added - so they took away pipes and floor layers and then the jack-hammer suddenly broke through the floor level and plunged down and disappeared. That’s how they discovered that this Mikvah or baptism pool was underneath their lounge floor. When I read this story, it caught my attention and the Holy Spirit began to minister to me from that, because His Word is a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces and sometimes the spring of living water that we’re supposed to be drinking from within, that washing of the water with the Word, from the living waters within (do you remember I spoke of that when I spoke to you of Noah?), sometimes layer upon layer has been laid down on top of that and people can’t access it, but the hammer, the jack-hammer, broke through that and it revealed that right within their own home there was a baptismal pool, a place of cleansing, a place to wash themselves with pure water. And the interesting thing was that these people said that that pool filled up by itself in winter. They didn’t know where the water came from.

So, here we have a picture of just what I was talking about. We have within us a spring of living water to drink from, within your own house, within your own home. Under your own living room floor there is a baptismal pool that you can cleanse yourself with, if you will study to show yourself approved and let the hammer of the Word work upon the hard foundation layers that have been laid down, until it smashes through. In Jeremiah 2:13 God says through the prophet: “My people have committed 2 evils. They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters and they have hewn for themselves cisterns which cannot hold water” and in verse 18 it says: “And what do you have to gain by allying yourself with Egypt and going her way to drink the waters of Sihor?” That word ‘Sihor’ means ‘darkness’. So what God is saying through the prophet is that His people have forsaken the fountain of living waters, they’ve made for themselves cisterns and they are drinking the waters of darkness from Egypt. Now, I don’t know if you can hear it, but I just heard the Holy Spirit speaking through that. God’s people are drinking the waters of darkness, when the fountain of living waters is underneath their own living room floor. No doubt those people had a place to wash above their living room floor and because they were Jews, if they wanted to take a Mikvah or cleansing bath for spiritual reasons, they probably went somewhere outside their own home to do so, not realizing that under the floor of their own home was already provision. The timing of when this happened is what really spoke to me, because it came in the week before the Supreme Court ruling was made in America, when this Mikvah was discovered under the living room floor. We need to let the Word break through our hearts of stone and make available to us the living waters within.
The names of the people that own this house where this ritual bath was found under the floor, were really interesting, because their surname was Shimshoni and that comes from the word ‘Samson’ and Samson means ‘to be brilliant, the sun’. So it’s speaking about sunlight and the lady’s name was Oriyah. Oriyah means ‘my light of God’. So Oriyah Shimshoni’s whole name depicts “double light of God”, Son-light if you will.

Do you remember what I said to you about Noah and how the window high above meant in Hebrew ‘double light’? Well, here we have a lady whose name and surname means ‘double light’. So this couple were depicting for me the very concept of receiving double light in your own home under your own living room floor. God is wanting to wash you with the water of His Word, by the Spirit of Truth and lead you into all truth. He wants to lead you and guide you in a way that you’ve never been led before, if you’re willing to just let the hammer of His Word work on your heart. You need to cleanse yourself using the Mikvah that is under your own living room floor. The spring of living water within.

The husband of this lady, Oriyah Shimshoni, his name was Tal, which means ‘dew’ and we all know that it was the dew, when the Israelites were in the Wilderness, that braught the Manna daily to feed the children of Israel angel’s food. So God wants to let the dew of Heaven fall upon your heart and bring daily Manna and daily food to sustain you right within your own home, right within your own family, without having to go out of your front door to get spiritual food. Let the light of God drive out the darkness in you.
You know, a Jewish bride also takes a Mikvah, a cleansing bath before her wedding and I really believe that when the Lord lead me to the story, He was also saying that His Bride needs to wash herself in the rivers of living water that are coming from within, from under the throne of God, in preparation for her wedding to the Bridegroom. So in the house of the one who’s name is ‘double light’, Oriyah Shimshoni, there is a bridal washing. Do you remember in Ephesians 5, it says: “Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, washing her with the water of the Word”. Now the Spirit of Christ wants to wash the Bride of Christ with the water of the Word from within.

Do you remember that John the Baptist was baptising at the Jordan and then Jesus came to be baptised by Him and we read in the Gospels that John was baptising at Beth Abara. John was baptising a baptism of repentance and he was a transition bridge between the Old Testament and the time of Christ and the baptism or the washing with the waters of John, which prepared the hearts of people in repentance, it was a place of transition and we see that in this name Beth Abara  where he was baptising, because Beth Abara, house of the ferry, means “a crossing place”. It’s a place of crossing, transitioning out of the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of light. And the people of Israel, in Egypt, transitioned out of Egypt into a time of being fully sustained by the Spirit of the Living God in the Wilderness, but the plague period was a transition period during which God was thrusting and separating light from darkness. Now that word abara, Beth Abara where John was baptising, abara means “to cross over”, but it also means (figuratively) “to cover in copulation”. In other words, it speaks of intimacy. So we see that the time of transition is also a time of intimacy. We need to be baptised in the waters of the Spirit of Elijah, just as the people were baptised by the waters of John and then John pointed them to Jesus and their eyes were opened to see Him. So too, the waters of the Spirit of Elijah function in opening the people’s eyes. Do you remember when Elijah spoke to the people of Israel and said: “If the Lord is God, serve Him. How long will you halt between 2 opinions?” and when the fire fell on the sacrifice, then the people of God... it was like the spell was broken over them and they said: “The Lord He is God! The Lord He is God!” So, the whole showdown with the prophets of Baal caused the People of God to come out from under the yoke of deception that they’d been under and to recognise who was the true God and so John was baptising people at Beth Abara, at the crossing place, at the place of transition, leading them towards intimacy, towards Jesus and he pointed out and he said to his disciples: “Look, there is the Lamb of God!” and the next day he said to them again: ‘“There is the Lamb of God’ and the disciples who heard him say this, followed Jesus”. So John was the transition bridge between the religious system and Jesus. He was the best man introducing the Bride to the Bridegroom. “So when Jesus turned and saw those disciples following Him, He said to them: ‘What are you looking for?’ And they answered Him: ‘Rabbi, where are you staying?’ and He said to them: ‘Come and see’. So they went and saw where he was staying and they remained with Him and it was then 4 o’clock in the afternoon”.

It’s always interesting when a Bible account gives us the time, because there we know again it’s the evening watch and we’re in the evening watch now, Beloved. The light is rapidly disappearing in the world and it’s getting darker and darker and if you follow Jesus you will see. He said to those disciples: “Come and see”. If you follow Jesus in the evening watch, your eyes will be opened to see. Once people have crossed that transition bridge and learned to drink of the fountain within, then John’s job is done. A bridge only leads us from one place to another and the spirit of Elijah in these days is a bridge across a véry unclean river that God’s people shouldn’t be drinking of and taking them safely into the care of the Bridegroom and being lead of the Spirit, following Jesus, dwelling with the Bridegroom, dwelling in the secret place of the most high and being safe.

So the plague of blood in the water in Egypt was the first thing that began the separation from the children of light from the children of darkness. It’s interesting also that the blood appeared in the streams and the Hebrew word for stream (also figuratively) means “prosperity”. So we see that the blood or the bloodshed or that which causes death was affecting the streams of prosperity and we know that there are great shakings in the financial systems in this day and the rivers were channels of trade. In Egypt it was up and down the rivers of the Nile that the barges went and braught all the commodities and the blood struck the rivers. So, there’s a double picture here. There’s not only a picture of the sound waves and the light waves being permeated by death, but there’s also a picture of the trade systems and the financial systems and the prosperity and the, the little bits of water that people have gathered together in pools being filled with blood, being filled with death. God is striking the financial systems of the world system and off course He provides for His people, but it affects them. The first plague affected the slaves as well as the Egyptians. The pools represent what you’ve gathered together, your provisions. The word ‘pond’ means ‘to collect together in one place’. It speaks of financial savings. You know we say, “spending money like water”. Well, there was blood in the ponds, death in the ponds. So we must realise that these things that are happening financially worldwide are the things that God is using as a birth pang to separate and make a distinction between the children of light and the children of darkness and unfortunately the children of light will be affected by the blood in the water. It didn’t only affect the Egyptians.
