4 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your 2016 by Doug Addison


We’re already two weeks in to 2016—how is your New Year going so far?
I hope well, but don’t be discouraged if those goals or resolutions you set out to do this year are not happening yet.
Most people start a New Year out with the desire to do things like lose weight, get a better job, work on deepening their relationship with God, etc. If you have struggled in the past at getting a breakthrough in any area of your life then I have some good news for you.
This is a year of sudden acceleration and you will be able to do things that may have been more difficult in the past.
12 years ago I received some breakthrough strategies from God that helped me to lose weight, get in better physical condition and write several books, to name a few.
I want to give you 4 easy and practical steps that will help align you for your best year ever:
1. Do something positive each day
Getting into a habit of doing something positive for yourself or others will set you up for an amazing breakthrough in your life. It only takes doing one small thing done consistently to bring an amazing amount of change without you even realizing it.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 NIV
The reason for why this works is the spiritual principle of what you sow you shall reap. This does not have to be bad things, but it applies to doing good things as well. When you give your attention, time, love and resources to others you get so much in return.
2. Say no to fear
There are so many things in the world today that can cause us to be fearful. But God did not call us to be fearful but to move in power, love and a clear mind.
“For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
If you need more clarity then this is for you. Fear often clouds our vision and causes us to pull back instead of moving forward in making wise decisions.
3. Learn to discern God’s voice
This year is a time like never before that we need to discern what is from God and what is not, what is for now or what is for later. It is actually not that difficult when you practice it.
“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” Hebrews 5:14 NIV

4. Find ways to be creative
God is limitless and what you can do through His strength and power has no limits as well. God created you to be unique.
Since God is creative and you are created in His image, then you have access to God’s supernatural creative ability through His love and power. You have access to everything you need to succeed because the Holy Spirit is in you.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV
You CAN get a breakthrough.
This is the time to break through and not break down.
All it takes is aligning yourself with God’s desires and intentions for you. It is not difficult to do but usually the hardest part to bringing change is to start.
