This is a study on the power of the tongue and we will look at how it
affects the life of every person.
God says My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge and
many Christians don't know the power of their own words. Words are pictures with
sound, sound pictures. We paint or illustrate images by the vibrations of our
words and words have the power to penetrate even the deepest parts of our
hearts. Words can build up or destroy. Words can do more damage than many
weapons and can poison multitudes if it does not originate from a source of
truth which is motivated by Godly love. God is light and in Him is no darkness
at all. His truth exposes all darkness and deception and sets a person free when
embraced in humility. Deception is everything that we do not see or understand
as God sees or understands it. So it is naturally always wise to run to the
light that He is.
It is written in John 1:
1 In the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2 The same
was in the beginning with God. (THIS IS
SPEAKING OF JESUS BECAUSE HE IS GOD'S COMMUNICATION TO HIS CREATION)
3 All things were made by Him; and
without Him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In Him was life;
and the life was the light of men.
5 And the Light shines in darkness;
and the darkness overcame it not.
Hebrews 1
1 God, who at many times and in various manners
spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Has in these last days spoken unto us by His
Son, whom He has appointed Heir of all things, by whom also He made the
worlds.
Jesus declares in Joh
8:12 I am the light of the world: he
that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the
light of life.
We have been created in the image and the likeness of Almighty God
the Creator and the way by which the Lord created the worlds is by speaking. The
Bible teaches us in the book of Genesis that God spoke creation into existence
and we need to understand the importance of speaking the right things.
God gave man authority within the earth when He said in Genesis 1: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over
every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
Hebrews 1:2 Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom
He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; 3 Who
being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and
UPHOLDING ALL THINGS BY THE WORD OF HIS POWER.
I was taken into the spirit world by the Father years ago during a
fast and I saw the immense power that His word releases when God speaks. The
whole universe and creation literally responds under His authority as the
Creator God.
We are created in God's image and likeness and Satan knows this very
well and if he can conquer your heart by filling it with darkness then he will
use your tongue against you and others to speak destruction.
I mean how powerful is the following scripture in Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all
the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He
commanded, and it stood fast.
A lot of people's hearts and tongues need to be redeemed and
transformed by the power and the truth of the word of God because they speak
their own destruction and I am witness of this reality because I used to be the
victim of my own tongue and the Lord had to correct me. Proverbs 18:7 A fool's
mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
Your soul can be ensnared through the words that come out of your
mouth. God gave you a tongue to defeat your mind, so whenever the enemy brings
evil thoughts to your mind, replace those thoughts with the truth of God's word.
But the problem is how will you know what the truth is and how can you even have
the standard of righteousness proclaimed in God's word if you refuse to renew
your thought life by spending time reading the Bible?
Ask the Holy Spirit today to draw you into His word and to create the
hunger and thirst for righteousness spoken of in Matthew 5:6.
James 3:1-18 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers,
knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. (2) For we all stumble in
many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also
to bridle the whole body. (3) Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they
may obey us, and we turn their whole body. (4) Look also at ships: although
they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very
small rudder wherever the pilot desires. (5) Even so the tongue is a little
member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
(6) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among
our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of
nature; and it is set on fire by hell. (7) For every kind of beast and bird,
of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
(8) But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly
poison. (9) With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who
have been made in the similitude of God. (10) Out of the same mouth proceed
blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. (11) Does
a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? (12) Can a
fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring
yields both salt water and fresh.
The Word of God declares that no man can tame the tongue, but the
good news is that, God can! How does He do it? He conquers the heart with His
love and fills it with His truth then out of the abundance of the heart the
mouth will speak. A defiled tongue = a defiled heart, and we need to ask the
Lord to cleanse our heart and help us to fill it with the truth and power of His
word.
Ephesians 4: 20 But you have not so learned
Christ; 21 If so be that you have heard Him, and have been
taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That you put off
concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to
the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit
of your mind; (THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR THOUGHT LIFE, YOUR
WAY OF THINKING)
Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that
good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What
shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
So you make a thought your own when you speak it aloud, because in
doing so you come into agreement with it. When you agree with it, it becomes
faith in your heart and when you speak it, it releases power to create. It is a
spiritual principle that governs the universe. David said in Psalm 119:89
Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.
Every word that we speak is like a building block in our lives and we
need to ask the Lord to guard our mouths continually. What I mean by our words
being building blocks is that we have the ability as Christians to create
through our words. It is a spiritual law ordained of God.
If a lie finds a place and I agree its true, then it is build over
time brick by brick. Our agreement builds a stronghold and then it becomes a
habitation for demonic presence. Satan knows the power of the tongue very well
and when people declare negative things about themselves and their future then
they give him legal right to cause havoc in their destinies.
Speak to any true Satanist and they too will tell you that the way in
which they put curses on people's lives is through the power of the tongue. This
is why the Bible gives us clear instruction about the power of the tongue in
James 3. The enemy of our souls knows full well that the Lord God imparted
authority to man and that he has been ordained of God to rule and reign in the
earth. Our words are carriers of creative power and it holds the power of life
and death, so we can choose to speak negative words full of fear, doubt and
unbelief and by doing so we give the enemy the legal right to bring those
negative confessions to pass in our lives, or we can choose to agree with what
the word of God says about our lives. This reality can also clearly be observed
in the lives of people. When they are negative about everything, then they will
create a negative atmosphere around them. We need to renew our minds to the
point where we naturally speak the word of God over our lives. We take on the
nature of the Living Word inside of us and we choose to stay in agreement with
what He says about everything when we speak his Word over our lives.
My own brother went to see a spiritist medium years ago and this
woman spoke a satanic prophecy of divination over his life and it happened
exactly how it was predicted. Today my brother is permanently damaged and marred
by those words. One of the things she told him is to stay away from red vehicles
and he was involved in an accident with a red Uno, a red BMW and then a red
Jet-ski that almost took his life. She told him that he would be married to 3
women and he was involved in 3 crazy marriages that caused alot of destruction
and heartache.
My mother spoke her own destruction. She always said that she didn't
want to grow older than 44. This confession ensnared her own soul and gave Satan
the legal entry into her life at that very age. She died of leukemia at the age
of 44.
Another testimony is that when we did deliverance on my own brother,
the Holy Spirit led me to break the curse over his will because a demon took
hold of his will at a young age when my mother said to him in anger, "You do not
have a will of your own."
My broher had to renounce the curse before the demon released his
will.
We really need to be careful with our words, because it activates the
spiritual dimension.
The Bible encourages us in 2 Corinthians 4:18 while we do not look at
the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things
which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
True faith sees the invisible and believes the impossible and we as
Christians are called to operate in the invisible realm of the spirit. The word
of God paints the picture of reality and truth. God operates in the realm of
faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The more we
fill ourselves with the truth of the word, the stronger our faith in God will
grow because God cannot lie. The physical world around us is subject to the
authority of God's word and when we speak the word of God against our
circumstances and keep doing it, then eventually everything around us will
conform to the truth and power in the spoken word and please understand that I
am not talking about trying to manipulate God or circumstances or people's
lives. When we do things out of our own without the guidance and leading of the
Holy Spirit then we can start to operate in witchcraft. We must do as is
instructed in Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the LORD with all your
heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. 6 In all your
ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
I am teaching you the spiritual principles of words.
God's word is the highest authority in all of creation, therefore
when a child of God speaks His revealed word over their circumstances then those
circumstances must bow its knee.
Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by
the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which
are visible.
Gods Word is Powerful
Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. (2) The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face
of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
(3) Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Jesus said, in Mark 11:23 and 24 that, For assuredly, I say to you,
whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does
not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he
will have whatever he says. (24) "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you
ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
I believe that the foundation scripture to illustrate faith the best
is found in Romans 10:9-10, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus
and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved. (10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation. In other words we literally speak our
salvation into existence by declaring our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior.
The Holy Spirit revealed to my father years ago that it works like a
dynamo. If you believe with the heart and confess with your mouth, and again you
believe with the heart and confess with your mouth all the time and by doing
that, then you release and activate the dunamis power of God's word.
Question: "What is the meaning of the Greek word dunamis in the
Bible?"
Answer: The Greek dunamis is used 120 times in the New Testament.
Loosely, the word refers to “strength, power, or ability.” It is the root word
of our English words dynamite, dynamo and dynamic.
In Matthew 16:13-18 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea
Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of
Man, am?" (14) So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and
others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." (15) He said to them, "But who do you
say that I am?" (16) Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the
Son of the living God." (17) Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you,
Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father
who is in heaven. (18) "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this
rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against
it.
We legally become children of God in His household through the
confession of our faith, when we make our personal declaration that Jesus Christ
is the Son of the living God.
True faith is produced by the power of the Holy Spirit through the
revealed will of God about a situation. We cannot manipulate the Lord through
our own will. We must receive a revelation about God's will to respond in true
faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the spoken revealed (rhema) word of
God. This is exactly how it happened with the Apostle Peter in Matthew
16:13-18.
The Lord revealed to me that our tongue is like a match and our
hearts like sulfur and when we make the confession of the word we ignite the
power thereof in the spirit. God says in Jeremiah 23:29 NKJV Is not My word like
a fire?" says the LORD, "And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
In the beginning of my Christian years, the Lord had our bible study
group focused on the tongue for more than four years in a row, until we had
renewed our minds through His word. It is such an important area. I remember one
night during sleep, the Holy Spirit ministered to me through a dream. In the
scene, I found myself sitting with other people in the setting of a lounge. We
were all in conversation with each other. Suddenly this octopus tentacle came
through the ground, as if from hell, and it fastened itself on my tongue. I
couldnt get it loose. The Lord showed me through this experience that the enemy
has taken hold of my tongue and he was using it against me. I had to repent of
all the negative things that came out of my mouth before the Lord.
In another incident, the Lord again had to correct me through a dream
because I was going through difficult times and became negative again. In the
dream, I found myself standing next to the Holy Spirit and as we were standing
there, the Lord Jesus spoke to me directly out of heaven. He gently rebuked me
and said, "Stop saying that you cant do it. Start to declare that you can all
things through Christ who gives you the strength and give the Holy Spirit
something to work with."
I thought WOW so the Holy Spirit works with the words that I speak.
Immediately it became a revelation to me, just how powerful our words really
are.
It actually works as Jesus taught it in (John 12:49) For I have not
spoken of Myself, but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should
say, and what I should speak - You speak the word of the Lord by the authority
of the Father and the Holy Spirit does the work.
It is written in
(Job 22:28) I will also declare a thing, And it will be established for me; So light will shine on my ways.

I encourage you to speak the word of God over your life every day.
God is light and His word is light. David says that the Word of God is a lamp to
his feet and a light to his path. By speaking the Word over difficult
situations, we drive the darkness away because the enemy cannot prevail against
the Light. The word of truth is revealed in Ephesians 6 as the sword of the
Spirit and we wield it in spiritual warfare by the unction and leading of the
Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of
faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we
also believe, and therefore speak;
I encourage you to take your personal prophetic words that has been
given to you and war with them in the spirit by speaking them out loud into the
atmosphere until you see it manifest in the natural. Do this every day in your
praise and worship time in the Lords presence. As the Lord said to me in a
personal word "My power will spring up, and the power of My word will become the
sword by which you will defeat the enemy. War with your words. Days of
breakthrough and breakout will happen as you war with the promises of God.
Contend for the breakthroughs that you need. Do not grow weary in the battle. As
you stand on the Word you will break through and breakout with the testimony of
the Lord on every side.”
1Tim 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the
prophecies which went before on you, that you by them might war a good
warfare;
